A Prayer for Trinity Church
Gracious God, by the movement of your Holy Spirit, strengthen us as members of Trinity Church to be an inviting and welcoming people; receive our worship, nurture our life of faith that we might discern your will for us and serve your people both near and far. We thank you for the support of our Diocese and of the larger church, and that by your grace you have guided us in our search for a new rector. Grant to us such a measure of your steadfast love that we might be held in a common bond of affection, and unity of purpose in all that we undertake, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Trinity Church is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia, a part of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America, and a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Our worship is traditional, joyful, and participatory. Our music is rich and varied, we take seriously the imperatives of education, and our outreach efforts focus on the needs of people locally, regionally, and across the globe. Our annual parish budget in 2007 is $751,000. Funded in part from an endowment, the ministries of Trinity Church are supported financially by the free will offerings of parishioners. A copy of the budget and updated treasurer’s reports are available in the Parish office. The sections that follow will set out in more detail the ministries that are a part of our life together and will attempt to illuminate who we are, where we have been, and our dreams for the future.

The Diocese

Trinity Church is a part of the Diocese of Virginia, the largest diocese in the country with more than 80,000 baptized members and 400 clergy. Its 193 congregations are spread throughout 38 counties in northern, central, and northwestern Virginia that encompass the populous suburbs of Washington, D.C. and the state capital of Richmond above the James River. There are 15 regions in the Diocese, and Trinity is in Region 13, which includes Fauquier, Rappahannock, and part of Loudoun Counties.

The Diocese is led by the Rt. Rev. Peter James Lee, the 12th Bishop of Virginia, and the Rt. Rev. David Colin Jones, Bishop Suffragan. Bishop Lee recently set in motion the machinery to select his eventual successor by instituting a search for a Bishop Coadjutor.

The Diocese is the home of six Episcopal preparatory schools, five diocesan homes, and the Virginia Theological Seminary, the largest Anglican seminary in the world.

The Diocese has two centers for conferences, retreats, camps, and meetings of various kinds. The Virginia Diocesan Center at Roslyn in located in the west end of Richmond on the James River, and Shrine Mont has a beautiful setting in the Shenandoah Valley. Shrine Mont is also the site of the open air Cathedral Shrine of the Transfiguration, the diocesan cathedral.
